The Sexy Librarian: always a tasteful choice for lustful holiday celebrations such as Valentine’s Day and Halloween.
Every once in awhile I get a notion to make something. Yesterday, the inspiration came from The Waiting.
The post reminded me of two important things: 1) the existence of Valentine’s Day (which we usually ignore entirely), and 2) the ease of creating handmade valentines. All I needed was a picture from the all-providing Interwebs, and a cheesy pickup line. Best of all, I could make my project with office supplies, thereby keeping it a complete surprise.
The card is a lot funnier if you know that Mr. Chickadee and I are both trained as librarians.
He is going to love it! My own hubs would love it for its thrift alone. Office supplies rule. I love the smell of Office Max. I think I’m sharing too much now.
I used one of those envelope moistener thingies to glue the cutout librarian onto the paper. Just so you know exactly how thrifty it was.
I would have used red paper if it were free, but the pink paper was in the copy room when I got the idea.

Love this! Maybe something in the air that non-celebrators (I’m one of these) have made an effort this year? I ended up writing a fairly bad (but heartfelt) poem and folding it into an origami heart. Also had the office supply bonus.
To me, the appeal lies in the application of creativity and thoughtfulness, and there’s something charming about using ordinary supplies. It seems unassuming and honest.
Of course, some people might think that I was a lazy wife for not buying some kind of snazzy present in advance, but honestly, that’s not what it’s about for me. A modest expression of love is sometimes just as good as a grand one.
